This past weekend, the Academy Males competed in the Tonka Splash tournament in Minnetonka, Minnesota. The Academy Males are a team ranging from 13 years old all the way to 18 years old, with only 4 players being 18 years old. Knowing that this would be their last year to compete at tournaments, we wanted to give them a proper send off by competing one last time in a tournament, which meant that we had to play in the u19 age group. Despite most of our players being under 16, they were up for the challenge as they did not concede a goal in the group stage of the tournament recording 2 wins and a draw, which qualified them for the finals. Their fight to compete with teams who were much stronger and faster than them, gave them the opportunity to compete with a very strong Wisconsin West Rush team who also did not concede a goal in the group stage. Matthew Start scored at the start of the second half to put them ahead, unfortunately Wisconsin West Rush scored midway through the second half which resulted the game to end 1-1 in regular time. This game went straight to penalty shots with the the Academy Males coming up short. The boys showed great effort and determination to create success in this age group. Proud of the team in representing Superior Rush FC.
